In the quiet north, where the cold of the Arctic winter bites hardest, Arctic Falls was founded in 1985. It was here, amid the glistening snow, that the founder carved out test tracks on frozen lake ice for Saab to test its cars. An idea that quickly became a success.

In 1988, Arctic Falls opened its first permanent test facility in Vitberget, and several automakers quickly recognized the potential for developing their vehicles and tires in the cold, northern climate that characterizes northern Sweden, at least for part of the year.

The concept of test facilities that customers can rent for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual testing grew rapidly. Today, Arctic Falls operates seven facilities, five of which are outdoor and two indoor. Unlike in the past, they now use exclusively land-based tracks, which guarantees a longer testing period and a higher level of safety. As early as mid-November, they welcome customers to their outdoor tracks, and the indoor facilities are open year-round, where they maintain a permanently controlled winter climate, cooled exclusively with renewable energy.

When we ask their employees what they like most about working at Arctic Falls, they often mention the variety of their work and the opportunity to build relationships with customers. Offering a comprehensive range of services is their niche, which is why their staff is their most valuable asset.

A workplace where everyone feels good

All customers who visit them, whether for short-term or long-term projects, receive personalized service every step of the way.

“We want a workplace where everyone feels good, where there’s a good work-life balance, and where we always treat each other with respect,” says Åsa Vedin, who works in HR and customer service.

As Arctic Falls grew rapidly, it became natural to focus even more on the people within the company. Part of this involved bringing in ByHart as an external HR partner. For us, HR means taking responsibility for attracting, recruiting, and retaining managers and employees, as well as the processes related to learning, development, performance, and well-being. We are also responsible for handling specific situations that may arise within an organization.

“Our employees are doing a fantastic job, which is why more and more world-leading players in the automotive industry are choosing to work with us. We need to hire more people, and I hope many will see this as an opportunity to join us on our journey,” said Jonas Jalar, CEO of Arctic Falls, when the construction of the new facility was announced.

For Arctic Falls, the goal is to create a workplace where people are happy and thrive. By expanding their operations to a year-round basis, they are not only creating more jobs but also fostering a stable and secure work environment where they can retain skilled employees.

ByHart as an HR partner

The focus is on enhancing job satisfaction and fostering an environment where respect and well-being thrive. For them, it’s not just a job—it’s a place where people feel good and where the work-life balance is highly valued.

As an HR partner, ByHart plays a key role in this effort. For example, we have conducted an in-depth assessment of the work environment, which enables Arctic Falls to take even greater responsibility for being an attractive employer. Furthermore, we have been responsible for recruiting a number of positions, as well as a number of new managers and employees.

Here is what Åsa Vedin has to say about the collaboration.

“ByHart always responds quickly, which is important to us since we’re a fast-paced organization ourselves. We have a great relationship, and their efficiency is crucial to us. In our recruitment processes, it’s also been very valuable that ByHart can handle more than just the actual hiring—they take care of all aspects related to human resources,” she says.

Arctic Falls strives to be a modern employer and is deeply committed to its employees. Among other things, the company aims to increase the number of women on its staff, as it remains a relatively male-dominated workplace. A good example of the company moving in the right direction is the recruitment drive managed by ByHart, where the applicant pool was evenly split between men and women.

“It’s really great that what we stand for is reaching more and more people,” says Åsa Vedin.

Arctic Falls’ core values are based on efficiency, confidentiality, safety, and service. The facilities are carefully designed to meet the high standards required for vehicle testing.

With its five facilities, a strong set of core values, and a satisfied workforce—according to their latest employee survey—the future looks bright. Here, the work environment isn’t just clean and safe—it’s also characterized by a sense of joy and the opportunity to make a difference.

The story of Arctic Falls is a tale of success and a commitment to providing the best for both customers and employees. It is a company where cold meets warmth, and where every employee plays a vital role in shaping the automotive innovations of the future.
